(a) due north is betwixt 0 and 1.
(b) 7/16 is three/8 more then n
Statement 1: Obviously not sufficient.
Statement 2: 7/16 is 3/eight more than n so it means that 7/16 = 3/viii + n
You can get the value of due north hence it is sufficient.
Answer (B)
The question was but trying to trick you to take statement ane into consideration every bit well and mark the answer as (C). Obviously n is between 0 and 1 but you practise not need to employ that information, Yous anyway become the verbal value of n from statement 2 alone.
And yes, it is sub 600 level question.

What is the value of n?
(1) n is between 0 and i - Insufficient. n tin can be any number between 0 and 1.
(two) 7/16 is 3/8 more than than n. 7/sixteen=due north+3/viii ---> n=seven/16-3/8=1/16 Sufficient. Reply is B)

Forget the conventional way to solve DS questions.
We volition solve this DS question using the variable approach.
DS question with 1 variable: Let the original condition in a DS question contain i variable. At present, 1 variable would generally crave 1 equation for u.s. to be able to solve for the value of the variable.We know that each condition would usually give united states of america an equation and Since we need i equation to match the numbers of variables and equations in the original condition,the logical answer is D. The respond could be A, B or D, merely the default answer will be D.
To master the Variable Approach, visit

and check our lessons and proven techniques to score high in DS questions.
Allow'due south apply the 3 steps suggested previously. [Watch lessons on our website to chief these 3 steps]
Footstep 1 of the Variable Approach: Modifying and rechecking the original status and the question.
We take to find value of 'n'.
Second and the third step of Variable Approach: From the original condition, we take ane variable (north).To match the number of variables with the number of equations, nosotros need ane equation. Since conditions (1) and (2) will provide 1 equation each, D would well-nigh likely be the reply.
Let's take a wait at each condition.
Condition(1) tells us that 0 < n < 1.
Since the answer is not unique, status(ane) is notsufficient by CMT ii.
Condition(two) tells u.s.a. that \(vii/16\) is \(3/viii\) more than northward.
=> \(\frac{7}{16}\) = \(\frac{three}{8}\) + n
=> n = \(\frac{seven}{xvi}\) - \(\frac{3}{ 8}\) = \(\frac{1}{16}\)
Since the answer is unique, condition(ii) is sufficient by CMT ii.
So, B is the correct answer.
Answer: B

On data sufficiency question, its very important to erase statement (1) from your listen when you first wait at statement (2). This question is almost designed to trick you.
